How do I motivate myself to live a healthy lifestyle?
As part of my personal healthy lifestyle, I find myself losing motivation at times and not wanting to commit to the regular workout routine I’ve set for myself. This can be kind of difficult at times, but I’ve found some strategies to help me stay on track.
I set a personal goal this year to read 24 books, and I read the book The Twelve Week Year. This book gives a practical framework to help set clear goals, make achievable plans, and keep making progress. One thing I like about “The 12 Week Year” is its focus on holding yourself accountable with weekly check-ins and habit scoring.
One tip to stay motivated that has worked for me is to focus on the smaller daily actions that help me reach the ultimate goal. Breaking down my overall fitness target into manageable daily to-dos makes it easier to maintain momentum and feel a sense of accomplishment along the way because I check in with myself each week to score how well I check off each habit.
For example, my current list looks like this.

This way of doing things helps to keep me motivated by focusing on small habits and being able to make changes when needed. It lets me be flexible in reaching my goals. Getting a score every week motivates me to improve the following week.
Lastly, I remind myself that having off days is okay and that I shouldn’t be too hard on myself. Embracing a balanced approach to fitness and allowing for flexibility has been instrumental in maintaining a sustainable, healthy lifestyle that I can commit to in the long run.
