Resolutions are out, goals are in for the New Year, and these are the habits you need to start to reach those goals. Please take notes!
Habits are behaviors that we perform automatically and are divided into three groups. The first group is for the habits we simply don’t notice because they have been part of our lives forever. This includes things like tying shoelaces or brushing your teeth. The second are good habits, which we work hard on establishing, like exercising, eating well, or getting enough sleep. The final group is our bad habits like smoking, procrastinating, or overspending.
Researchers from Duke University have shown that over 40% of what we do is determined not by decisions but by habits. This suggests that we can change a huge part of our lives by eliminating bad habits and creating good ones. People who fully understand this can find new ways to improve their lives.
Make a habit of saving
Saving money just makes your life better. Living paycheck to paycheck causes enormous stress and anxiety because when you don’t have enough money for your needs, it forces us to worry. Self-disciplined savers are happy because they have less stress and worry and lots to look forward to.

Make a habit of going to the doctor
Visiting your doctor for regular preventive care is one of the best ways to identify and treat health issues before they worsen. When you have a regular physician that means you have someone who knows your medical history and who will work with you to develop a healthy lifestyle.
Benefits of an Annual Checkup:
- Assess risk for future health issues – When you get an annual exam, you can identify slight signs of any disease that is likely to develop or even get severe such as high blood pressure.
- Treat early stages of health conditions – Having a blood test can detect early stages of some diseases including diabetes, heart disease and some cancers.
- Help you to maintain a healthy lifestyle – Once you have the knowledge you can find resources that can bring enhanced health and noticeable changes.
Breathe Chile
Make a habit of taking moments to slow down, relax, and care for yourself. Deep breathing or enjoying a hobby can help break the anxiety cycle. Take a walk, listen to music, get a massage, or practice yoga. Making self-care a priority will help take your mind out of stressful moments and make you more productive.
